Production CompanyThe company, ‘Mosfilm’, produced the film, ‘Ivan’s Childhood’ by Andrei Tarkovsky. 'Mosfilm' is a Russian establishment; it is the oldest and largest film studio in - not only Russia - but also the entirety of Europe. Aleksandr Khanzhonkov, who was Russia’s first cinematographic entrepreneur, founded it in 1923 and he produced Russia's first feature film: 'Defence of Sevastopol'.
'Mosfilm' is known for producing Soviet-era films (including 'Ivan's Childhood). 'Mosfilm' are also recognised for distributing films such as; 'The Battleship Potemkin' directed by Sergei Eisenstein, 'Aerograd' directed by Alexander Dovzhenko and 'War and Peace' directed by Sergei Bondarchuk. The works are mostly Soviet films, made around a war setting. The films are mainly for those in the Soviet Union. There is a large number of them that follow Barthes' narrative theory utilising an enigma and involving negotiated meanings between 'Mosfilm' and the audience. The general concept that is represented throughout the majority of the films produced by 'Mosfilm' is what the then current events were in Russia; at the time the most influential films were made. The main genre that is produced by the company is comedies. 'Ivan's Childhood' in particular conforms to the main aspects of 'Mosfilm' with following the Barthes' narrative theory, being made for the Soviet Union and representing (what would have been) a current event. However, the film deviates within the genre category, as it is not a comedy, but a poetic realist production |

My Film, 'Minnie'
For my own film, 'Minnie'. I do not believe that the production company 'Mosfilm' would particularly suit distributing my film. Although, my film contains many similarities to 'Ivan's Childhood' and 'Memory', 'Ivan's Childhood' itself stands out from most other films produced by 'Mosfilm'. My film is also not specifically targeted to the Soviet Union, however, it does possess the same narrative build as most films under the institution. Overall, I do not think my film contains enough components that 'Mosfilm's pieces carry to be produced by them.
Out of the three production companies that are involved in 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', I believe that 'Anonymous Content' would be best suited to distributing my film. Although all three of the establishments are American and therefore are not known to produce an independent British film, 'Anonymous Content' is an independent company in itself, it is known primarily for producing advertisements However, I think because its small scale and has produced an acute amount of feature films, it would be an appropriate company to distribute my own five minute film.
